Emma Watson
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was the
daughter of British parents Jacqueline Luesby (a lawyer) and Chris Watson (a
French mother). The couple relocated to Oxfordshire at the age of five years
old, and attended the Dragon School. As early as the age of six years old, Emma
knew that she wanted to be an actress and for a couple of years, she was a
student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre
school where she learned about dancing, singing and acting. At the age of ten,
she had performed and taken the lead in numerous Stagecoach productions and
school plays. Casting began in 1999 Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone 2001

discovered Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight consecutive
auditions, David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants)
that they were chosen to play Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley.
Emma's first appearance on screen in cinema was in Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone (2001). The film was the highest-rated film of 2001 in terms
both of its opening-day and weekend take-homes. Reviewers praised the film and
the performances of the three young actors who were the most prominent. The
Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper that is widely distributed, called Emma's
performance "admirable." In the following days, Emma was nominated
for five awards for her role in the film. She also won the Young Artist Award
for Leading Young Actress in an feature Film. Following the release of the
first film in the highly successful franchise, Emma became one of the most
